I’m Dr Bita Akhtar. I graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Punjab Medical College, Pakistan, in 2005. I later obtained my Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and have since gained extensive experience in providing comprehensive general practice care in Australia.
I am passionate about delivering patient-centred care and am committed to supporting individuals and families across all stages of life. I work Monday to Friday and take pride in offering accessible, high-quality care to my patients.
Clinical Interests:
- Women’s health, including contraception and IUD/Implanon insertion
- Chronic disease management (Asthma, COPD, Heart Health, Diabetes)
- Diabetes diagnosis and ongoing care (Participant in the Diabetes Alliance Program)
- Travel medicine and vaccinations, including Yellow Fever
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health
- Management of obesity and lifestyle-related health issues
- Spot skin checks and minor procedures, including biopsies
- Palliative and supportive care
I enjoy the variety that general practice offers and strive to build long-term, trusting relationships with my patients. I speak multiple languages, which helps me connect with patients from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
